Research

Research conducted by the Center for Gender Studies has specific themes that are divided into several time periods. We focus our research themes on women and children who are vulnerable to discrimination and violence.

Short-term (one year)

The research is focused on the pressing needs in the community and among Muhammadiyah Universities which include:

  1. Gender Profile of Muhammadiyah Universities
  2. Development of a model for preventing sexual violence against female students based on the one student save one student (OSSOS) program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
Medium term (two year)Protection and wellbeing of women and children in the UMS campus and the Greater Solo community.
Long-term (four year)
Health and wellbeing of women and children with gender equality.

Community Service

Beyond our research initiatives, the Center for Gender Studies also spearheads community service programs with distinct themes. These programs are dedicated to enhancing the rights and wellbeing of women and children within the community.

  2. Women empowerment in the fields of economics and health.
  3. Socialization of the rights of women's health and welfare.

The activity's goal is to empower women in the fields of economy, health, and welfare (including children).
Long-term (four year)
The activity's goal is to empower women in accordance with the SDGs and protecting children.

Publication and Partnership

As a center for research and development, the UMS Center for Gender Studies is at the forefront of exploring diverse facets of gender equality issues within both the campus and the Greater Solo area. Going beyond the confines of academia, the center actively partners with various parties to advocate the significance of gender equality and the safeguarding of women and children. From publications addressing sexual violence to fostering economic business development.

  1. Research Report on Patterns of Handling Victims of Sexual Violence against Girls (Study Towards Child-Friendly Districts in Wonogiri and Boyolali in 2021)
  2. Gender Stereotypes in the UMS Student (download file)
  3. Development of a Prevention Model for Sexual Violence Against Girls Based on the One Student Save One Family (OSSOF) program in the Greater Solo region
  4. Assistance in the development of business for the Aisyiyah Family Economy Group (BUEKA) in Sukoharjo Regency through internet-based digital marketing.
  5. Gender Relations Study in the Hadiths of Nawawi's Arbain at Mardhotillah Mosque in Gempol Ngadirejo Sukoharjo.
  6. Short film about unregistered marriage to enlighten the community on the negative impacts of informal marriages in collaboration with the PDA Sukoharjo Human Rights Council.
  7. Strengthening collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Sukoharjo Regency Government.
